Travel Issues

Airport Pickup

TRAVEL TO AND FROM LONDON

It is easy to travel between London and Heathrow, Gatwick, Stansted and Luton Airports.

The best way to travel is by train or by coach (National Express or Easybus).
First class train tickets are much more expensive than second-class tickets. Most British people travel second class.
If you plan to use National Express coaches for more than 3 or 4 journeys, you should get a Coachcard which gives you up to 30% discount.

If you need to use the tube/underground trains, please bare in mind that you will usually have to walk a long way to get to the platform you need. Make sure you give yourself plenty of time to arrive at your destination and to make any travel connections.
Please note that Underground trains in London do not operate after 23:30 hours.

Organised Transfers

When you arrive at one of the UK’s airports, make sure you travel to your accommodation the safe and affordable way.

When you book airport transportation through the college, we send you a comfortable executive car with an experienced driver who knows the way to your booked accommodation.

Transportation to/from airports is bookable only in conjunction with accommodation and are arranged through our accredited provider.

Transfers to/from Airports by Private Car

Per Person Each Way                              1 PASSENGER

Oyster

Travel in London

Deciding on which ticket to buy – a Travelcard, Prepay Oyster Card or a Visitor Oyster Card – depends on how long you’re staying in London and how frequently you’ll be using public transport.
If you are in London for a week and plan to use only the central London area (eg Zones 1-2 or 1-4) on a daily basis then a 7-Day Travelcard may be the most cost-effective option.

Visitor Oyster Card

Oyster is an electronic smartcard travel ticket. Visitor Oyster Cards come fully charged with your credit which you can spend on travel. Simply touch your card on the yellow reader to get through the Tube gates or to board other London public transport services. It doesn’t even need to be removed from your purse or wallet to work.
Buy a Visitor Oyster Card Before You Leave Home

  • Save time – your Visitor Oyster Card is ready to use as soon as you arrive in London
  • It’s more than 50% cheaper than buying a paper Travelcard
  • There is a daily price cap – once you have reached this limit, you won’t pay any more
Travelcards

A Travelcard is a paper travel ticket and is valid for either one day or seven days’ travel on London’s public transport network. Travelcards are available in certain combinations of travel zones e.g. Zones 1-2 or Zones 1-4.

Oyster

Oyster Pay-as-You-Go (Pre-pay Oyster)

Oyster pay-as-you-go cards work in the same way as Visitor Oyster Cards. They are charged with an amount of credit of your choice. You can make as many journeys as you like in a 24-hour period (4.30am-4.30am) and you will be charged less than you would pay for a paper ticket. Just like the Visitor Oyster Card, the Oyster card will automatically cap the day’s charges at the price of an equivalent 1-Day Travelcard if you make lots of journeys. The aim is to ensure that Oyster always charges the lowest fare. Where it doesn’t, you can get a refund. Unlike Visitor Oyster Cards, 7-Day Travelcards can also be loaded electronically onto Oyster cards.

Non-UK residents can only buy an Oyster card when they arrive in London from Tube stations, DLR stations, London Travel Information Centres and participating shops.

18+ Oyster photocard

Students who study for 14 or more weeks on a 15 hour/20 hour course per week can apply for a TFL Student Discount Card. This card entitles you to discount rate travel of 30% in London.
To complete your application you’ll need:

  • Your university/college enrolment number
  • Your course dates
  • A colour digital photograph
  • A credit/debit card to pay the £20.00 application fee
  • Choose the college “Elegant International College” from the drop down menu

We do our best in order to live up to this expectation through our Social Calendar. Our goal is to create unique events, tailored to our student’s needs, keeping in mind that they will want to socialize, meet locals, discover British culture and to have fun without spending a fortune!

In addition, while they are here we will help them as much as we can to enjoy their stay, so feel free to ask any of the staff for recommendations.
As Samuel Johnson said: “When a man is tired of London, he is tired of life; for there is in London all that life can afford”.

Student Testimonials

ALI BAFAKIH – SAUDI ARABIA

My English was very poor two years ago and i had to get and IELTS test to join an university, I was very afraid that i will not get a good mark in the test. However, Elegant International College helped me a lot, they have very good methods in teaching, the tutors there are very friendly and they are very qualified, the teaching environment is very good and the college is located in a very nice place. I really advice everyone to give it a try and they really will enjoy it. They have a lot of courses and i really think you will find all the help you need there.

AOITIF BRABRA – FRANCE

I am French, I studied English in Elegant international college for 4 months. The teachers are very good at teaching and really funny. I love this school.

CINDY HUVEAU – FRANCE

“I like this college. The teachers are very nice and good. All lessons are very interesting and they have a good method to learn quickly. It’s not very expensive when you stay 14 weeks and in class we are only few students (less than 8), it’s really a great college! :-D”

ALBA STEFANELLI – ITALY

My experience at the school was positive. The class into which they had been inserted already started the course at the beginning so it was not easy, but my teacher was very good because she understood my difficulties and was willing to help. The classes are as welcoming as the entire staff of the school, I found myself very well. I think attending a new course in October but contact the school without an intermediary which is better.

LAURA TOURNIGAND – GERMANY

I studied in the school for one month and I am more confident now with my english. My teacher was so great with us, very helpful and kind. I definitely advice to student to go there!!

STEFANO GIANNASCOLI – ITALY

“Great School, Excellent Teachers, Fantastic Experience”
I’ve been very lucky in finding the Elegant International School of English. The classes are not crowded and that is absolutely crucial in order for students to pay attention and follow the teachers. I had the chance to meet three different teachers and they had been fantastic teachers, always concerned about my progress and willing to help. I attended a course in English at the Elegant International School of English situated in Battersea. Very easy to find. I strongly recommend studying English at Elegant International College.

EWA CZERWIŃSKA – POLAND

“I think that this school is great. My personal experience in detail about this school :). I really think that school is great. Teachers were very good. It was a lot of practical classes and grammatical exercises and the biggest advantage is that the school teaches foreigners what is very helpful. Classes are small and very well equipped. Elegant International College is far away from the city center but can be reached by metro or bus.”
